Jon Speyers

Jon Speyers
Director of Photography

A cinematographer by trade and an adventurer by heart, Jon enjoys nothing more than capturing ambitious stories in far-flung destinations.  As cinematographer, he brings a unique visual style, combining a formal cinematic approach with an openness to create in-the-moment.  Inviting audiences to journey through new worlds and ultimately understand different perspectives forms the heartbeat of his imagery.  His work has premiered on CBS primetime, the Discovery Channel, Nickelodeon and PBS.  Serving as Director of Photography for five seasons of Joseph Rosendo's Travelscope, he photographed fourteen countries and spent extended periods with indigenous populations in Asia.  His cinematography was recognized by the Academy with Emmy nominations in 2012 and 2013 as well as a Silver Telly, the highest honor.

As adventurer, Jon carries an ease amid the extreme.  He is a frequenter of the Utah desert and loves getting lost in the region's many hanging canyons, if only for an afternoon.  During his undergraduate years, he led wilderness trips for young adults, teaching backcountry living in Wyoming's Wind River Range and the islands of Lake Huron.  Versed in primitive camping techniques, his most prided expertise is making fire with three sticks and a shoestring.  He is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School and the Wilderness Medical Institute.

Jon is currently attending USC's School of Cinematic Arts for an MFA in Film and Television Production.  He is thrilled to contribute to Epic Adventures.
